The Macaulay Center is a four story plus basement and cellar building built in 1904 located within the Upper West Side Historic District. The first phase of the project was a fast track interior renovation of the 20,000 sft. space including the installation of state of the art Audio/Visual and IT technologies for the students’ use. Interior renovations included the use of sustainable materials such as cork flooring, high content recycled carpeting, low VOC paints and energy efficient light fixtures. The second phase of this project included a complete restoration of the façade composed of red brick, terra cotta window heads, jambs, horizontal banding, cut limestone base, and wood-framed single pane double-hung windows. APA presented to the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission and obtained approval for exterior building signage.
