Renovation of New Hall Building Plaza
Bronx Community College, Bronx, NY

The project involves renovation of the plaza at the New Hall building at this Historic campus in the Bronx. The New Hall building is a 1960s three story structure in the south-east quadrant of the Bronx Community College (BCC) campus. The building is a reinforced concrete structure with exposed brick facades. The north half of the building forms a plaza at the second floor level providing access to the building. The plaza roofing has deteriorated over time and is susceptible to water infiltration to the floors below. Apart from this the exposed reinforced concrete columns at all facades have also succumbed to the vagaries of nature and have begun to spall and show sign of deterioration. APA performed a feasibility study to evaluate the condition of plaza and the building facades. APA is now in the process of performing design development and construction documents for the renovations of the plaza and building facades.
