The project was initiated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to reduce production of greenhouse gases in the harbor by providing shore power to the ships while docked at the port in the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. The new 2500 SFT. substation was located within the existing warehouse at Pier 12.
